T-Mobile Launches the Samsung Highlight
T-Mobile USA has just introduced the Samsung Highlight, on the 15th of next month that will come with a full touchscreen display in addition to a 3.1-megapixel camera. The Samsung Highlight promises fast Web browsing over this carrier’s 3G network. It also has access to live news feeds with the web2go widget, plus access to a wide variety of T-Mobile downloads — ringtones, games, wallpapers, and other applications.
In addition, the Highlight offers a variety of multimedia features, including a 3.1-megapixel camera with autofocus, video recording support, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS navigation, multimedia playback, instant messaging capability and a microSD memory card slot. 3 megapixel camera with video capture, a music player with support for MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+, and a microSD slot for storing up to 16 GB of music.
Naturally, this phone from Samsung allows users to exchange text messages, but that’s just the beginning. It also offers instant messaging with AIM, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo! Messenger, as well as email with AOL, Yahoo!, and all POP3 accounts. It even has stereo A-GPS, with support for the TeleNav navigation service.
Hardware Details
The Highlight is 4.2 by 2.1 by 0.5 inches, and it weighs 3.7 ounces. It comes in two colors, which this carrier calls Ice and Fire.
The 240-by-400-pixel touchscreen is 1.6 by 2.6 inches.
This is a quad-band GSM worldphone that also sports stereo Bluetooth.
Samsung says the 1200 mAh Li-ion battery gives it up to 6.5 hours of talk time or up to 18 days of standby time.
Pricing and Availability
The Samsung Highlight is available now for $150 with a two-year service agreement, qualifying data plan, and a $50 mail-in rebate.
