Windows Movie Maker problems

Windows movie maker problems. I found out about windows movie maker a while ago and started using it. Windows movie maker was working perfectly fine for a while.., until recently it hasnt been working at all, heres what happens: after about a few minutes of adding videos and music to the timeline, ill click somewhere on the timeline area, where it be theplay button, or a video/sound, and it just closes. theres no message that pops up saying it needs to close, and it doesnt freeze. It just disapears as soon as i click. And if i load a previously saved movie, it will do that same thing as soon as i click anywhere in the timeline (or below that line that separates the timeline from the video preview/collections/ect).
I tried looking for a way to unistall it, but i havent been able to find it on “change/remove programs” or whatever its called. I didnt make any big changes to my computer recently (that would cause it to not work.. i dont think), and that seems to be the only program im having trouble with… everything else works fine, and has always worked fine.
I have run many virus/spyware scans using norton, ad-aware, and housecall, and remove what little comes up (cookies basically). Although there was one time a while ago where my computer got infected pretty bad.. i ended up doing a system restore which seemed to work. I actually tried a bunch of different things (regarding the viruses) and ended up quarantining 5 viruses on norton, and theyve been there for a while, i cant seem to remove/clean them, but they are quarentined.
so how can i get my windows movie maker working again?
Well, I don’t use WMM myself, but you can try the below if you want to reinstall the program, which should fix the problem. Note that you have to have your Windows XP installation disk(unless you’re running on SP2, but have it, regardless), and be on an admin account to do this.
Click Start > Run, and then type exactly: %systemroot%\inf
Click OK to open the INF folder, then locate the file ‘moviemk.inf’. Right-click it, and then click ‘Install’.
